Eye Movement Desitization and Reprocessing
(EMDR)

EMDR (Eye Movement Desitization and Reprocessing) is a powerful therapeutic approach designed to help individuals process, deal with distress, and heal from traumatic experiences. It can also be helpful if one is struggling with their post trauma or other distressing issues and can help with unlocking suppressed memories of the traumatic event.  These traumatic experiences can be from an assault, a natural disaster, an accident, violence, abuse, or childhood neglect to just name a few.  It is normal for us to not want to deal with the pain and to numb our pain with food, alcohol, sex or smoking. We also tend to believe that if we do not think about it, then it will go away on its own.  The past traumatic event will always somehow resurface if one continues to avoid and numb themselves of the past traumatic event and the feelings associated with it.

EMDR is an 8 phase process that will focus on the specific trauma from the past while using bilateral stimulation. The bilateral stimulation and the therapist will help you access and reprocess the memories. The entire process helps you release the trauma that has had a hold on your mind and body and addresses the "stuck" feeling that you may have been experiencing.

For EMDR to work effectively and be successful, one has to be ready to confront their trauma. When reprocessing in EMDR, it is allowing for the neuro networks in your brain to heal instead of working towards changing thoughts, feelings, and behaviors that is done in talk therapy.  Focusing on the trauma to reprocess can help with your healing journey in less sessions then traditional talk therapy.

The EMDR services provide a safe and supportive environment where you can explore your feelings and memories, facilitating healing and personal growth. Let me guide you on your journey towards emotional well-being and resilience. Contact me to learn more about how EMDR can benefit you.
